OK, we started off class by looking at David and Mary's ideas for the final project. Both had a good start and I'm excited to see the final results!

We spent a little time talking about the hierarchy of meter, which is kind of an abstract idea -- basically it means considering all of the layered pulses that are happening in a passage of music, not just the quarter-note beat but the eighth-note subdivisions, and slower pulses like the half note level, whole note level, etc.

Then we learned about 6/8 time, where the beat is subdivided into groups of three (or triplets.) I gave out a new page in the rhythm anthology which has some 6/8 passages to practice. We also sang the two melodies in our sight-singing anthology that are in 6/8.

That's it! Homework is to keep working on the final project.
