Class 1: Sept 19
Welcome to Adult Theory and Ear Training III!

This is the class for people who know their basic elements - scales, chords, key signatures, intervals, and (ideally) "the roman numerals." We'll start working on writing and playing chord progressions according to the classical "rules", maybe some counterpoint, and analyzing passages from Classical music. We'll continue our basic ear-training activities, including sight-singing and melodic dictation.

The main focus of the first session will be a quick review of the aforementioned basics. In case you need an emergency refresher on any of these topics, here are my old handouts. If you've studied theory at the conservatory before, you might have them already:

Scales and Key Signatures, Major & Minor
Triads
Intervals
The Roman Numerals

My Lessons Archive has old worksheets and links to computer-aided practice, as well.

Fall 2012

Sadly, I'm somewhat pessimistic that we will get enough students to make this class work in Fall 2012. But, maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised!

Our second class is scheduled in two weeks, on Oct 3.
