In this session I gave out docs for two big upcoming events - our performance quiz and midterm composition project. We practiced a little treble clef reading (using both level up and an online exercise at tonesavvy.com). Finally we tried out musescore, the free music notation program that is installed on all of the macs.
Homework #5 is still in process for Friday.
Assignment #5: Major Scales
Homework #5 asks you to draw some more scales on piano keyboards. Major scales are covered on pp. 27-28 of our theory text.
This assignment is due Friday, Sept 26.
Performance Quiz, Tues Sept 30
Next Tuesday we will do one-on-one appointments in our regular classroom. The prep sheet gives you three things to prepare in advance.
We hammered out this schedule for appointments, but I think it will probably be a little fluid in reality. 😛

Midterm Project: Short Composition
Our midterm project will be a short composition that you will write down and perform in class. The big challenge here is to write it in correct notation and then play what you wrote!
Due date is Friday, Oct 10.
