Class 10Tuesday, February 06

Wow, I just realized I am very far behind on our blog. Remember that you can always email me if you have questions about what we are up to.

This was the class in which I introduced minor scales and I assigned homework #7.

Test day, was, of course, Friday Feb 16. Test Study Guide.

I'll re-blog the active homeworks on this day, below.

Homework #5: Key Signatures and the Circle of Fifths

Worksheet Numero Cinco asks you to draw some key signatures and get familiar with the circle of fifths. This is covered in chapter 9 of our theory text. Honestly you can copy most of the answers straight out of the textbook, but I'd recommend playing some kind of memory game with it instead (like write your answer, then check the text.)

This one is due Tues, Feb 6.

Worksheet #6: The Dot

Worksheet #6: The Dot is all about the little dot that we add to some notes to modify their rhythmic value. This is covered in Chapter 7 of our theory text.

This one will ALSO be due on Tues, Feb 6, because we gotta motor and get things done.

Homework #7: Minor Scales and Key Sigs

Homework #7 asks you to make some minor scales and identify some minor key signatures. To do this I think you have to understand the way to "minorize" a major scale (not a real word) and also the relative minor-relative major relationship. This is all covered on pp. 37-40 in our textbook.

Due date for this one was supposed to be Tues, Feb 13, but of course it got pre-empted by the snow day. I'll take 'em on Wednesday. :)
