Class 32 | Friday, November 10 |
We reviewed our two I-V-I techniques (common-tone and "next-closest") and I introduced a new one for I-IV-V-I's (and I-ii-V-I's). This was also the class where we made a quick a cappella arrangement of "The Wheels on the Bus."
Don't forget that we have Theory Quiz #3 coming up on Tuesday, Nov 22 (i.e. the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.)
There are now two homeworks in the queue.
Worksheet #13: I-V-I Progressions
Worksheet #13 asks you to make a bunch of I-V-I and related progressions while obeying the laws of counterpoint. All of this is covered in pp. 69-71 of our theory anthology.
Due date for this one is Tuesday, Nov 14.
Homework #14: The Step Zoooooone
Worksheet #14 expands our vocabulary of chord progressions and adds a new technique. When we see the bass line move up by step, we pull our upper chord down. This is covered on pp. 71-74 in our theory anthology.
This worksheet is due on Friday, 11/17.
