MUSC 220 - Fundamentals of Music Theory

Hayden Hall, Room 105.
Tuesdays 12:30-1:45, Wednesdays 1:00-1:50, Fridays 12:30-1:45
Class 29Friday, November 01

Welp, on the day after Halloween we had a bit of a skeleton crew (get it?) and we talked about counterpoint.

I have the powerpoint from that lesson and the handout I gave out.

This was a one-and-done lesson, we aren't really going to keep talking about it.

Meanwhile, Homework #11 was due today and #12 is in process.

"Real" Homework #11: More Roman Numerals

This one asks you to analyze roman numerals in major and then make chords in minor, which is a bit tricky due to the "raised leading tone" rule. Roman numerals are covered on pp. 58-59 of our theory text.

This worksheet is due today.

Worksheet #12: Inverted Triads

(Image is a young musician named Luca Fiore.)

Worksheet #12 asks you to make and recognize your triads in their "inverted" shapes. This is covered on pp. 60-62 of our theory text.

This worksheet is due on Tues, 11/5.
