| Class 27 | Tuesday, March 24 |
All right, I hope everybody had a good break. In this session I'll give out the Test #2 Study Guide and we'll keep getting organized and reviewing. Homework #11 is due.
Since some people owe a lot of homework let me blog everything we've been up to lately, starting with the test announcement and then all the recent homeworks in order.
Theory Test #2 is Friday, March 27
The Test #2 Study Guide explains exactly what will be on it (namely minor scales, major and minor key sigs, "small" intervals and the roman numeral triads.)
Also you may want my tonesavvy guide, which coaches you on studying with tonesavvy.com.
Homework #7: Minor Scales and Key Sigs
Worksheet #7 asks you to make some minor scales, figure out a few minor key signatures, and make the special "harmonic" minor flavor. All of this is documented in Chapter 11 of our theory textbook.
This was due on Wednesday, Feb 18.
Worksheet #8: Major and Minor Triads
Worksheet #8 asks you to identify and make a bunch of major and minor triads, on the both the keyboard and the musical staff. This is discussed in pp. 45-49 of our textbook.
This worksheet was supposed to be due on Tuesday, Feb 24 but in-person class was sadly preempted by snow. I will continue to take them of course.
Worksheet #9: Fancy Notes and Weird Triads
The concepts for Worksheet #9 were covered in our online session on Tuesday, and a little bit on Friday. Your weird triads are in the textbook on pp. 47-48 and the "fancy" note names are on pp. 42-43.
This assignment was due on Friday, March 6.
Worksheet #10: The Small Intervals
Worksheet #10 asks you to identify a bunch of "small" intervals (ranging from the minor second up to the perfect fifth). These are covered in our textbook on pp. 50-54.
Due date was Wednesday, March 11.
Worksheet #11: Diatonic Triads (aka The Roman Numerals)
Worksheet #11 asks you to make a bunch of "roman numeral" triads in different keys. The pattern of roman numerals in major and minor are covered on pp. 59-61 of our textbook.
